Amarillo, TX – Residents across the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles are experiencing a brief cool-down today, but the reprieve will be short-lived as temperatures quickly rebound heading into the weekend.
According to the US National Weather Service in Amarillo, highs this afternoon, Wednesday, Sept. 24, will stay in the 70s across the region. The cooler air mass will linger only through today before warmer conditions return.
Forecasters expect highs to climb into the low to mid-80s by Thursday, Sept. 25, and continue rising into the upper 80s and low 90s by Friday, Sept. 26, through Saturday, Sept. 27. Winds are expected to remain light and variable at 5 to 10 mph during this stretch.
The shift comes as a reminder of the Panhandle’s rapid weather swings. While cooler days are typical of early fall, the weekend forecast highlights the area’s continued potential for summer-like conditions.
Residents are advised to plan accordingly for outdoor activities and prepare for the warmer temperatures returning later this week.
