Lubbock, Texas – Daily rounds of thunderstorms could drench roads and disrupt Fourth of July plans across the South Plains and far southern Texas Panhandle, with Lubbock under a persistent rain threat through Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Lubbock, showers and thunderstorms will continue off and on Wednesday through Monday across counties including Parmer, Lubbock, Hale, and Dickens. Isolated downpours could bring brief periods of heavy rain, especially during the overnight and afternoon hours. Rainfall amounts will generally be under a tenth of an inch but may be higher in thunderstorms.

Communities like Plainview, Levelland, and Post could see standing water on roads, poor visibility, and localized street flooding through the holiday weekend.
