Montgomery, TX – A Montgomery residence fire early Thursday left two adults dead, prompting an investigation by local authorities.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a structure fire at approximately 2:16 a.m. in the 20300 block of Birch Drive, where they found a double-wide mobile home fully engulfed in flames.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the fire was extinguished by the Montgomery Fire Department, and two deceased individuals were discovered inside the structure. The Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office also responded to the scene.

Investigators reportedly noted injuries on the bodies of the deceased that were inconsistent with the fire, prompting a request for the Major Crimes Unit to lead the investigation. Crime Scene Investigators and detectives arrived shortly after to begin their assessment.

The Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting autopsies to determine the exact cause and manner of death. Authorities say while the investigation is active, there is currently no known threat to the public connected to the case.

The identities of the two victims are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
