San Antonio, Texas – South-Central Texas is bracing for a volatile stretch of weather as isolated severe thunderstorms move in tonight, with stronger storms expected Monday afternoon through Tuesday across the Hill Country.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, Sunday night storms could bring large hail, damaging winds, and pockets of heavy rain to areas from Del Rio and Eagle Pass to Kerrville and Boerne. Monday’s threat intensifies, especially across Burnet, Llano, and Fredericksburg, where a slight risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe weather includes the potential for large hail and flooding.

Cities like Austin, San Antonio, and New Braunfels may see repeated rounds of thunderstorms through Tuesday. Memorial Day outdoor events could be interrupted by lightning and wind gusts over 40 mph. Afternoon highs will remain dangerously hot—up to 104°F in Carrizo Springs and 103°F in Del Rio—with heat and humidity fueling storm development.

Drivers should avoid flooded low-water crossings and check road conditions before traveling. Residents are urged to charge devices, have multiple ways to receive alerts, and stay weather-aware during outdoor plans.

Storm chances diminish midweek, but pop-up showers remain possible into Friday. Additional alerts could be issued if storm activity intensifies.
