West Monroe, LA – A single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 143 claimed the life of a Texas man on Saturday afternoon.
According to Louisiana State Police Troop F, Johnnie Lott Jr., 71, of Carthage, Texas, was driving a 2015 Toyota Avalon northbound on Highway 143 near New Wall Lake Road when the vehicle veered off the road and overturned. Lott, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators stated that impairment is not suspected, but toxicology samples were collected as part of routine procedures. The crash remains under investigation. Authorities emphasize the importance of wearing seatbelts and following traffic laws to reduce fatalities.
