Lake Charles, La. – Rain returns to Southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana late Sunday with a growing risk of flash flooding as a multi-day weather system develops through early next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, widespread showers and storms are expected to begin Sunday night, bringing a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 4) for flash flooding across cities like Beaumont, Port Arthur, Lake Charles, and Leesville. Rain chances spike to 55% on Monday and Tuesday, with pockets of locally heavy rain likely.
In Southeast Texas, places like Jasper, Woodville, and Sour Lake could see rain beginning early Monday. From Monday noon through Tuesday evening, rain chances hover between 45% and 55%, prompting caution for drivers on US-69 and TX-105 during commutes.
Southwest Louisiana, including DeRidder, Alexandria, and Lake Arthur, will also see a steady rise in rain chances—up to 50% Monday morning, with continued precipitation likely through Wednesday. Localized flooding in low-lying or poorly drained areas is possible.
Residents are urged to stay weather-aware, especially near flood-prone roads. Keep phones charged, avoid driving through high water, and check local alerts frequently.
The rainfall threat is expected to linger through midweek, with additional updates and advisories possible by Sunday night.
