Houston, TX / Shreveport, LA – The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch covering most of Southeast Texas through 7:00 a.m. Saturday, with nearby portions of Northeast Texas, Southern Arkansas, and Northern Louisiana also under a Level 2 (Slight Risk) for severe storms tonight.
According to the NWS Houston–Galveston, strong storms will bring threats of gusts up to 70 mph, hail up to one inch, and a few isolated tornadoes across cities including Houston, Beaumont, College Station, and Galveston. The watch area extends eastward into Shreveport, Longview, Natchitoches, and Monroe, where similar hazards are possible overnight.
The NWS Shreveport office reports that the greatest risk will develop later this evening into early Sunday, mainly along and south of the I-20 corridor. Damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rainfall could lead to localized flooding in low-lying areas.
Residents across both states are urged to monitor weather alerts and have multiple ways to receive warnings overnight, as some storms could intensify quickly after dark.
