Lake Charles, La. – Afternoon thunderstorms could trigger flash flooding across parts of southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana through the weekend, with some areas seeing up to 5 inches of rain by Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, a marginal flash flood risk remains in effect Wednesday, with rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches expected—localized totals could reach 5 inches. Affected areas include Lake Charles, Beaumont, Port Arthur, and as far north as Leesville and Jasper. The storms are most likely between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. daily.

Highs will remain in the low to mid-90s through Sunday, with heat combining with humidity to create sweltering conditions during the day. Winds will remain light but shift southward each afternoon. Evening rain chances drop significantly, with less than a 30% chance after sunset most nights.

Residents in flood-prone areas should avoid driving through water-covered roads. Keep phones charged, have multiple ways to receive alerts, and stay weather-aware if you plan to be outdoors.

Rain chances stay elevated through Sunday evening. Additional alerts could be issued if conditions worsen.
