Shreveport, LA – A severe weather threat is expected Wednesday evening across Northeast Texas, Southeast Oklahoma, Southwest Arkansas, and Northwest Louisiana, with the potential for large hail and damaging winds.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Shreveport, areas along and north of Interstate 20 are at the highest risk for severe thunderstorms. A slight risk (Level 2 of 5) is in place, meaning scattered severe storms are possible. The primary threats include hail up to 2 inches in diameter, wind gusts exceeding 60 mph, and isolated tornadoes.

The hatched area on the NWS outlook highlights locations, including Texarkana and Shreveport, where there is a 10% or greater chance of hail larger than 2 inches within 25 miles of a point. Quarter-sized hail or larger is also possible across much of the region.

Residents should remain weather-aware and have multiple ways to receive warnings. Secure outdoor objects, move vehicles to covered areas if possible, and be prepared to take shelter if warnings are issued.

Storms are expected to develop in the late afternoon and intensify into the evening hours. Travelers along I-20 should exercise caution and monitor updates from local meteorologists and the National Weather Service.
