Houston, TX – Hurricane Beryl is forecast to make landfall in South Texas early Monday morning. The storm is expected to initially strike where the Rio Grande meets the continental border of the United States, before moving north into Central Texas.
According to the US National Weather Service Shreveport Louisiana, Beryl, a Category 2 storm, is currently nearing landfall on the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico with maximum sustained winds of 110 mph. Gradual weakening is expected as Beryl crosses land, but it is predicted to strengthen again into a hurricane before reaching Deep South Texas early Monday morning.
Beryl is expected to gradually move north into Central Texas, with an eventual turn to the northeast around Wednesday. The remnants of Beryl may affect the ArkLaTex region later next week, potentially bringing widespread rainfall and keeping temperatures in the 80s to lower 90s.
