Wichita Falls, TX – Residents are bracing for a scorching start to their weekend, with temperatures expected to reach as high as 101°F on Friday afternoon. The heat index could push temperatures even higher, making it a dangerously hot day for outdoor activities. If you’re planning to be outside, take frequent breaks, stay hydrated, and avoid the midday sun.

According to the National Weather Service, Friday will bring sunny skies and sweltering temperatures to Wichita Falls. With highs approaching 95°F, heat indices may exceed 101°F in the afternoon. South winds at 5 to 10 mph will provide little relief from the heat. A reminder: children, pets, and elderly individuals are especially vulnerable to heat-related illnesses, so be sure to take precautions when venturing outdoors.

The weekend isn’t offering much relief. Saturday will see mostly sunny skies with highs near 96°F and heat indices nearing 104°F. The heat will continue through Monday with highs approaching 97°F.

Temperatures will stay well above normal through the early part of next week, with a high near 99°F on Tuesday. Monday night will offer little relief, with temperatures staying warm, around 76°F.
