Corpus Christi, Texas – A dangerous combination of triple-digit temperatures and gusty winds is driving extreme fire danger and heat-related risks across South Texas through at least Thursday evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, a Heat Advisory remains in effect from 1 to 8 p.m. both Wednesday and Thursday for the Brush Country and southern Coastal Plains. Temperatures are expected to reach 105–112°F with heat index values peaking between 105–114°F. Minimum humidity may drop as low as 15–25%, with southeast winds gusting up to 25 mph—conditions ripe for rapid fire spread.
Cities under major heat stress include Laredo, Alice, Cotulla, Kingsville, and Beeville, where “feels-like” temps could approach record levels through the weekend. Outdoor work should be rescheduled for morning hours, and residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit strenuous activity, and check vehicles for children or pets.
Elevated fire weather conditions will be especially critical in open brush areas, where any spark could escalate quickly. Avoid outdoor burning and use caution with equipment and vehicles near dry grass.
The heat advisory and fire risk remain in effect through Thursday, with additional alerts likely as dangerous conditions persist into the weekend.
