San Antonio, Texas – Much of South-Central Texas is bracing for a surge in early-season heat, with Del Rio and San Antonio likely to hit 100°F by Wednesday, May 14—the earliest such stretch for many cities in years.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, temperatures will steadily climb after a mild weekend, with Del Rio showing a 95% chance of reaching triple digits by both Tuesday and Wednesday. San Antonio’s odds reach 60% on Wednesday, while Austin stands at 50%. These highs would arrive weeks ahead of the region’s average first 100°F day.

The heat will build under clear skies and minimal winds, creating potential hazards for outdoor workers, pets, and anyone without access to cooling. Del Rio could top out at 105°F by midweek, and areas like Eagle Pass, Uvalde, and New Braunfels won’t be far behind.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activity during peak afternoon hours, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Make sure vehicles aren’t left running unattended and never leave children or pets inside parked cars.

This warming trend is expected to last through Friday. Additional heat advisories may be issued early next week if humidity levels rise.
