Corpus Christi, Texas – Triple-digit temperatures and oppressive humidity are gripping South Texas, with heat indices expected to climb as high as 110°F through Memorial Day weekend. Cities from Laredo to Corpus Christi are at moderate to major risk for heat-related illness, especially during peak afternoon hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, daily highs through Tuesday will range from 102°F to 103°F, with overnight lows offering little relief, staying in the mid-to-upper 70s. A slight chance (30–40%) of thunderstorms may return Monday and Tuesday, providing minimal cooling but increasing mugginess.

Cotulla, Tilden, and Beeville are already hitting 98°F or higher, while coastal cities like Rockport and Port Lavaca remain in the high 80s. Drivers and parents are urged to “look before you lock,” as vehicle interiors can become deadly in minutes.

Officials recommend limiting outdoor activity, staying hydrated, and checking on elderly neighbors. Avoid strenuous work between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., and ensure pets have shade and water.

Heat advisories could be extended if conditions persist. Stay tuned for updated alerts and potential thunderstorm watches heading into the holiday.
