Corpus Christi, Texas – South Texas residents are facing extreme heat early this week, with feels-like temperatures expected to soar as high as 115°F in Kingsville and Laredo through Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, the region will endure peak afternoon heat index values between 105°F and 115°F through Tuesday evening, driven by humid conditions and stagnant air. A weak cold front is forecast to arrive Wednesday, offering some relief with lower temperatures and isolated rain chances.

Cities including Alice, Cotulla, and Port Lavaca are also in the danger zone, with daily heat index values above 110°F. In Corpus Christi, the heat index may reach 104°F. NWS urges residents to stay indoors during peak heat hours, remain hydrated, and never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles.

The intense heat poses a risk for heat-related illness, particularly for outdoor workers, seniors, and those without air conditioning. Schools, local governments, and emergency services are encouraged to implement heat safety protocols.

Relief could begin midweek as the approaching front nudges highs back below the triple digits and brings a 20% chance of showers by Wednesday and Thursday.

Heat advisories may be extended if conditions persist into late week.
