Corpus Christi, Texas – Residents across the Texas Coastal Plains and Brush Country will face dangerous heat indices reaching 100 to 105 degrees Fahrenheit today, with conditions expected to worsen early next week. Isolated showers are possible today, but they will offer little relief from the sweltering temperatures.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, low rain chances, between 20-30%, are expected today over the Coastal Plains. Overnight lows will remain warm and muggy, primarily in the mid-70s. Southeast winds of 5-10 mph will offer minimal cooling.

High temperatures today include 99°F in Cotulla and Laredo, 98°F in Tilden, and 96°F in Freer. Beeville will see 92°F, while Alice reaches 94°F. Corpus Christi will hit 88°F, with Victoria seeing 91°F and Port Lavaca at 86°F. Isolated storms are possible, particularly around Victoria.

The heat is projected to build through the weekend, with Sunday through Tuesday showing daily highs from 89-99°F across the region, with overnight lows staying warm, between 73-80°F. Humidity will contribute to heat indices consistently above 100°F. Vulnerable populations, including newborns, children, and the elderly, are especially at risk. Residents should avoid leaving anyone in a closed car and ensure proper hydration.

The National Weather Service advises reducing the risk of heat impacts by staying hydrated, seeking air-conditioned environments, and limiting outdoor activities, especially during peak afternoon hours. Heat advisories may continue or be issued as conditions develop through next week.
