San Antonio, Texas – Unseasonably hot weather is baking South-Central Texas this Memorial Day weekend, with afternoon highs soaring to 100–104°F along the Rio Grande and near triple digits across cities like Austin, San Antonio, and Uvalde.
According to the National Weather Service in Austin-San Antonio, the heat will persist through Sunday and Monday, with limited relief expected. Isolated thunderstorms may develop Sunday night, particularly across the Rio Grande Valley, Edwards Plateau, and parts of the Hill Country. By Tuesday, a broader risk of scattered showers and thunderstorms could bring brief cooling across the region.
Laredo is forecast to hit 102°F today, while Del Rio could reach 103°F. San Antonio and Austin will hover around 99°F and 97°F, respectively. The combination of high temperatures and humidity may push heat indices even higher, prompting residents to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged outdoor activity.
Rain chances increase from Tuesday through Thursday, especially in areas like New Braunfels, Kerrville, and Fredericksburg, with minimal severe impacts expected.
Temperatures will begin to drop slightly midweek, but heat safety remains a top concern. Stay tuned to local alerts, and limit strenuous activity during peak afternoon hours.
