Houston, TX – A Heat Advisory is in effect today across southeast Texas, with inland high temperatures reaching around 100 degrees. The advisory, issued by the National Weather Service, warns of heat indices surpassing 108 degrees, posing significant health risks for those engaging in strenuous outdoor activities or without air conditioning.

According to the US National Weather Service Houston-Galveston, the advisory is active from 11 AM to 9 PM on Thursday. Residents are urged to take precautions, including drinking plenty of water, limiting outdoor activities, working early or late in the day, wearing light clothing, and using sunscreen. It’s also important to check on family and pets during this period.

The forecast indicates that the intense heat will persist into the weekend and the first half of next week. Friday and Saturday will continue to see high temperatures, with forecasts showing highs of 101 and 102 degrees, respectively, in cities like Houston, College Station, and Galveston. The heat index will remain dangerously high, making outdoor activities potentially hazardous.

By Sunday, temperatures are expected to slightly decrease, with highs around 98 to 100 degrees. However, the heat index will still pose a threat, emphasizing the need for continued caution.
