San Antonio, Texas – Dangerous heat will grip South-Central Texas through Friday, with heat index values peaking at 111 degrees in some areas and temperatures soaring past 104. Residents in Bexar, Uvalde, Medina, and surrounding counties are urged to limit outdoor activity and stay hydrated.
According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, a Heat Advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. Thursday and will resume Friday from 2 to 7 p.m. Areas under alert include San Antonio, Hondo, Pearsall, Floresville, and Pleasanton. The combination of high heat and humidity could lead to heat exhaustion or heat stroke if precautions aren’t taken.
Cities like Uvalde and Pleasanton are expected to feel the worst of the heat. Outdoor workers and vulnerable groups, including children and older adults, should take extra care. Cooling centers are recommended for those without reliable access to air conditioning.
Drivers are also advised to avoid leaving people or pets in parked cars, even briefly. Power grids may experience increased demand during peak afternoon hours.
Temperatures may ease slightly by Saturday, but the NWS warns additional advisories could be issued if the heat persists.
