Houston, Texas – Southeast Texas is baking under relentless July heat, with highs expected to push into the mid-90s across the region by Wednesday, prompting concerns about heat-related stress and possible advisories later this week.
According to the National Weather Service Houston-Galveston, temperatures on Wednesday will reach 96°F in Houston, College Station, and Conroe, with overnight lows holding in the mid to upper 70s. The heat will persist through Sunday, while increasing moisture brings a 40–55% chance of showers and storms Friday and Saturday, especially east of I-45.
Cities including Baytown, El Campo, and Crockett could see heat indexes exceed 100°F, with little relief overnight. Officials urge residents to limit outdoor activities during peak hours, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors.
Rain chances will increase as a disturbance moves across eastern Texas. While not expected to break the heat entirely, localized downpours could cool things temporarily. This marks the first significant rain chance for the region in over a week.
Humidity and high dew points will keep overnight lows above 75°F through the weekend. More alerts may be issued if conditions worsen.
