Fort Worth, Texas – North and Central Texas are under a heat advisory through 8 p.m. Sunday as heat index values climb as high as 107, making outdoor activity dangerous across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex and surrounding counties.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, the combination of high humidity and triple-digit temperatures will increase the risk of heat-related illness, especially for those working or exercising outside. Cities under the advisory include Fort Worth, Dallas, McKinney, Waco, Sherman, and Terrell, along with dozens of nearby communities.

Officials warn residents to stay hydrated, wear lightweight clothing, and avoid strenuous activities during peak afternoon hours. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration urges frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas for those working outdoors. Emergency managers stress that children and pets should never be left inside vehicles, where conditions can turn deadly within minutes.

While the region bakes under the heat advisory, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms may develop in the afternoon and early evening, offering some brief relief. However, temperatures will remain near 100 degrees through midweek before easing slightly by Tuesday night.

Warnings remain in place until Sunday evening, with additional advisories possible if extreme heat lingers into the workweek.
