Houston, Texas – Humidity and heat will remain the story across Houston this weekend, but a return of thunderstorms could complicate outdoor plans starting Sunday and carrying into next week. Afternoon highs will sit near 90 degrees with muggy overnight lows in the mid-70s.

According to the National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston, Saturday should be the driest day, with mostly sunny skies and light winds. By Sunday, however, storms become more widespread, with a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Gusty winds and brief downpours could reduce visibility on major roadways like I-10, I-45, and the Sam Houston Tollway.

Localized flooding may develop in low-lying areas during heavier storms. Drivers are urged to avoid water-covered streets, particularly in Harris and Fort Bend counties where drainage can quickly back up. Outdoor events and sports across the metro should prepare for lightning delays.

Storm chances continue into Monday and Tuesday with scattered activity each afternoon. While not a washout, the unsettled stretch could disrupt commutes and flights out of Hobby and Bush Intercontinental airports.

Residents should plan for periods of sun and heat between storms, stay hydrated, and secure outdoor items that could blow around during stronger cells. More updates are expected as storm timing becomes clearer through early next week.
