Fort Worth, Texas – A wave of dangerous heat and pop-up thunderstorms is heading for Fort Worth on Tuesday, and the timing couldn’t be worse.
According to the National Weather Service, a 20 percent chance of storms and showers arrives after 1 p.m. Tuesday, paired with heat index values climbing as high as 99 degrees. Winds will stay light from the south around 5 mph, but it won’t do much to ease the swelter. By Thursday and Friday, highs reach 96°F, with clear skies and little relief overnight as lows only dip into the upper 70s.
Looking ahead to the weekend, storm chances tick up slightly. Both Saturday and Sunday carry a 20 percent chance of afternoon thunderstorms, but sunshine and heat remain dominant. Expect highs in the mid to upper 90s and lows near 77°F.
