Dallas, Texas – Heavy rain threatens widespread flooding across North and Central Texas through Tuesday morning, with up to 6 inches possible in some areas from repeated downpours.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, a Flood Watch remains in effect for over 30 counties, including Dallas, Fort Worth, Waco, Temple, and Tyler. Rainfall totals between 2 and 3 inches are expected, with localized amounts approaching 6 inches, particularly along the I-35 corridor. The watch is active until 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Urban areas with poor drainage—especially in DFW, Waco, and Killeen—could experience rapid runoff, leading to flash flooding of streets, underpasses, and low-lying neighborhoods. River and creek levels are also expected to rise quickly, particularly in areas that have already received recent rainfall.
Commuters should avoid flooded roadways, especially during early morning and evening rush hours. Emergency officials urge residents to charge mobile devices, monitor local alerts, and prepare to move to higher ground if needed.
This system continues a stormy pattern across Texas, echoing similar May floods in 2015 and 2019. More updates or warnings may be issued if rain bands intensify overnight.
Warnings remain in effect through Tuesday morning. Stay weather-aware and avoid unnecessary travel.
