San Angelo, Texas – Scattered downpours and thunderstorms could flood roads and creeks across West Central Texas today, with a flood watch active until 8 p.m. Monday for Brown, Crockett, Kimble, Mason, McCulloch, Menard, San Saba, Schleicher, and Sutton counties.
According to the National Weather Service in San Angelo, a disturbance lifting out of northern Mexico is pushing showers north into the I-10 corridor and Hill Country. Most areas can expect an additional 1 to 2 inches of rain through this evening, but isolated spots—including Brownwood, Junction, and Menard—could see as much as 4 inches. With the ground already saturated and several rivers in flood, even moderate rainfall is expected to run off quickly, causing flash flooding in low-lying areas and along roadways.
Flood-prone intersections, low water crossings, and rural roads may be impassable, especially near San Angelo, Mason, and Brady. Drivers are urged never to cross flooded roads—turn around, don’t drown—and to monitor local alerts for closures. Residents should keep phones charged, move vehicles to higher ground, and prepare for potential power outages.
The flood risk is expected to ease late Monday, but additional advisories may be issued if storms linger or new rain bands develop.
