San Angelo, TX – North Texas residents, especially in Haskell and Throckmorton counties, should prepare for heavy rainfall and potential flash flooding through noon Sunday. Repeated rounds of thunderstorms overnight could bring hazardous conditions, including localized flooding. Authorities advise against travel on roads likely to flood and urge extreme caution.

The U.S. National Weather Service in San Angelo issued a flood watch, effective from 7 p.m. Saturday through midday Sunday, cautioning that the area may experience intense rainfall leading to flash floods. Roads, especially rural routes and low-lying areas, could become hazardous. Drivers are reminded, “Turn Around, Don’t Drown,” as conditions may worsen suddenly, particularly on roadways susceptible to high water.

San Angelo Area Extended Weather Forecast:

Sunday: Thunderstorms likely, with showers intensifying through the morning. Expect highs near 80°F, with south winds gusting up to 30 mph. Rainfall could reach up to half an inch in some areas.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy skies, cooling to a low of 62°F. Southeast winds around 10 mph with lighter gusts.

Monday: Chance of morning thunderstorms, then clearing to sunny skies with a high near 76°F. West winds at 10-15 mph.

Tuesday: Sunny and cooler, high around 69°F. Northwest winds at 5 mph shifting to the south later.

Wednesday: Clear skies with a high of 78°F and mild southeast winds.

While conditions are expected to improve early in the week, any lingering water on roadways may still pose risks. Residents should monitor local advisories and exercise caution in flood-prone areas.
