San Angelo, Texas – Flash Flood Warnings remain in effect this morning across parts of Central Texas, as relentless overnight rain has dumped more than 8 inches in some areas, overwhelming roads and low-water crossings.

According to the National Weather Service in San Angelo, San Saba County leads rainfall totals with gauges showing 4 to 7 inches in just six hours — including a staggering 8.31 inches near the Colorado River. The Flash Flood Warning there has been extended through 9 a.m. CDT.

In Sutton County, a gauge northeast of Sonora recorded 4.5 inches, with 1.5 inches falling in just the past hour. Northeast McCulloch County is also experiencing intense downpours, with 3 to 4 inches reported in a single hour and warnings active in that region as well.

Drivers should avoid travel in affected counties, especially along FM roads and rural crossings prone to flash flooding. Residents are urged to monitor emergency alerts, keep phones charged, and move to higher ground if needed.

The heaviest rain is expected to taper by late morning, but additional advisories are possible as saturated ground increases runoff risk.
