Shreveport, LA – A flash flood warning has been issued for multiple northeastern Texas counties as thunderstorms continue to dump heavy rain across the region. The National Weather Service in Shreveport reported that between 2 to 4 inches of rain have already fallen in areas including southwestern Bowie County, southeastern Camp County, and western Cass County. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected in the warned area.

The warning, which is in effect until 9:30 PM CDT, covers several cities, including Gilmer, Daingerfield, and Hughes Springs. Authorities urge residents to avoid driving on flooded roads, as most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles. The heavy rainfall has caused flash flooding in small creeks, urban areas, highways, and other low-lying regions prone to poor drainage.

According to the National Weather Service, flash flooding is ongoing or is expected to begin shortly. Locations such as Lone Star, Naples, Ore City, and Rocky Branch could see significant impacts.

Residents are advised to monitor local conditions and take necessary precautions. If driving, remember the crucial safety advice: “Turn around, don’t drown” when encountering flooded roads.
