Shreveport, LA – A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for several counties in northeastern Texas due to ongoing thunderstorms that have already dropped between 2 and 4 inches of rain. The warning, which affects Camp, Franklin, Morris, Titus, Upshur, and Wood counties, is in effect until 8:45 PM CDT tonight.
According to the National Weather Service, additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected, and flash flooding is already underway or imminent in the affected areas. Locations such as Mount Pleasant, Pittsburg, and Naples are among those at risk.
Flash flooding is particularly dangerous in urban areas, along highways, streets, underpasses, and other low-lying regions with poor drainage. The National Weather Service advises residents to avoid driving on flooded roads and to “turn around, don’t drown.”
Thunderstorms are expected to continue producing heavy rain, exacerbating the flooding risk throughout the evening. Drivers and residents in these counties should stay alert and heed local warnings to ensure safety.
