Fort Worth, TX – Dry and windy conditions have created a critical fire weather threat across Texas, prompting a Red Flag Warning. The warning covers western portions of Central Texas until 9 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, humidity levels could drop to 13%, with winds reaching 20-25 mph and gusts up to 35 mph. These conditions make outdoor fires extremely dangerous.

Officials urge residents to avoid activities that could spark fires, such as outdoor burning or discarding cigarettes. Drivers should avoid parking on dry grass and secure tow chains to prevent dragging sparks.

A midweek cold front may briefly reduce temperatures, but fire risks will remain. Areas west of the I-35 corridor, including Waco, Killeen, and Fort Worth, face the highest threat.

Authorities recommend staying alert and reporting any smoke or fire immediately. The NWS advises checking local forecasts for updates and fire safety measures.
