FORT WORTH, TX – Drivers across Grayson and Lamar counties are urged to exercise caution as dense fog blankets the region Thursday morning. The National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory that remains in effect until 10 a.m.
Visibility is expected to drop below a quarter-mile in affected areas, including Sherman, Denison, Bonham, and Gainesville. According to officials, these conditions could create hazardous driving environments, particularly along major roadways such as U.S. Highway 82 and State Highway 56. Drivers are encouraged to use low-beam headlights, reduce speed, and allow extra following distance to avoid potential collisions.
The advisory marks the beginning of a travel weekend impacted by shifting weather patterns. Following Thursday’s fog, Friday and Saturday bring increased chances of rain, with up to 0.5 inches forecast. Temperatures will dip into the high 40s by Saturday night, with cooler air expected to linger through Sunday.
For those traveling post-Christmas, plan for potentially slick roads and delays. Meteorologists recommend checking conditions before heading out and preparing emergency kits with essentials like water, blankets, and flashlights for extended trips.
Looking ahead to next week, sunny skies are expected to return by Monday, offering relief from the damp start to the weekend. Residents should stay informed by monitoring updates from the National Weather Service or local outlets.
