PORTER, TX – Deputies in Montgomery County say one suspect is in custody today after an early-morning burglary in Porter, while a second person involved in the break-in remains at large.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the burglary happened around 1:30 a.m. today, after a 911 call reported a break-in at a building on Ford Road. When deputies arrived at the La Panza Feliz Market, the store owner told investigators he saw two individuals running from the business. In an attempt to stop the suspects, the owner discharged a firearm before one suspect allegedly struck the owner’s vehicle while fleeing in a car.
Deputies say the suspects continued eastbound on Ford Road before abandoning the vehicle. A perimeter was established with help from Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constables and the Houston Police Department. The MCSO K9 team tracked and apprehended 24-year-old Xavier Deon Stansberry, who was taken to a hospital for treatment related to a K9 bite.
According to investigators, Stansberry and an accomplice had allegedly cut into the store’s ATM, stealing the cash box. Stansberry faces charges of Burglary of a Building, Theft from an ATM, and Evading Arrest/Detention. He is currently in the Montgomery County Jail.
