Lubbock, TX — A strong cold front is pushing through the Texas Panhandle this morning, bringing gusty winds and rapidly dropping temperatures.

According to the National Weather Service, winds will shift to the north at 15–25 mph, with gusts reaching 35–40 mph. The front is expected to clear the southern portion of the forecast area between 9–10 a.m. CST. Temperatures behind the front will range from the upper 30s to mid-40s across the region.

Cities including Lubbock, Floydada, and Crosbyton will experience blustery conditions throughout the morning. As the cold air settles in, temperatures will remain below average for late February.

Drivers should be prepared for strong crosswinds on highways, and outdoor activities may be impacted by gusty conditions. Those in exposed areas should secure loose objects. The National Weather Service advises residents to dress warmly as wind chills will make it feel even colder.
