Austin, TX – Authorities are renewing calls for public assistance in solving the 2013 murder of Lillian Desiree Descoteau, whose body was found near Hallsville, Texas. Investigators with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Texas Rangers are offering a $6,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in this long-unsolved case.

According to the DPS, Descoteau’s body was discovered on Oct. 7, 2013, by two truck drivers near the FM 450 ramp to Interstate 20. She had allegedly been sexually assaulted, beaten and strangled. Her body was found partially clothed, wearing a blue pullover, white bra, and a single diamond earring.

Descoteau, 51 at the time of her death, reportedly lived a transient lifestyle, traveling across several states including Alaska, Colorado, Ohio, Georgia, Maryland and Louisiana. Her last known residence was in Irving, Texas, where she worked briefly as a commercial truck driver.

The case is now part of the Texas Rangers’ Unsolved Crimes Investigation Program, which highlights one cold case bi-monthly to generate leads. The reward is only payable if a tip is submitted before the next case is featured.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Texas Crime Stoppers at 800-252-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip online at the DPS cold case website by selecting “Cold Cases Featured” and “Cold Case” in the appropriate sections. All tips are anonymous.

Authorities emphasize that there is no statute of limitations on murder in Texas, and investigators continue to pursue leads until the case is resolved or deemed unsolvable.
