Corpus Christi, TX – A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for the Texas Gulf Coast as Potential Tropical Cyclone Six moves closer to the region. The system is forecast to strengthen into a tropical storm by today, bringing hazardous conditions to the Middle Texas coastal waters.
According to the National Weather Service, winds are expected to reach 25 knots with gusts up to 35 knots. Seas could rise to 11 feet, and a Small Craft Advisory is in effect through Tuesday. Coastal residents and mariners should exercise caution as the system continues to develop.
There is also a high chance of heavy rainfall and flash flooding along the coast. Forecasters expect the storm to reach hurricane strength by midweek. Texans can expect increasing showers and thunderstorms throughout the week, with the highest risk occurring near the Gulf Coast.
