Willis, TX – Couples planning their big day are being warned after authorities launched an investigation into a scam involving a man allegedly posing as the owner of a popular wedding venue in Willis, Texas.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect—using the alias “Lance Miller”—has been reaching out to potential clients, offering to book Charleston Lane Wedding Venue, located at 7041 Kingston Cove Lane. Investigators said the individual has allegedly been collecting large payments through wire transfers, cash, and payment apps despite not being affiliated with the property.

Detectives are actively working to identify victims and gather more information related to the fraudulent bookings. The Sheriff’s Office emphasized the scam is under ongoing investigation, with several cases already confirmed.

Officials are asking anyone who believes they may have been affected to come forward. Victims are encouraged to contact detectives at 936-538-8393 and refer to case number 25A151828.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reiterated its commitment to pursuing justice and holding those responsible accountable.
