DALLAS–FORT WORTH, Texas — A warm, hazy Thursday begins with an Ozone Action Day across North Texas, followed by storm chances building into the weekend. Drivers and outdoor workers should take precautions as air quality dips under stagnant skies before a more active pattern arrives Saturday.

According to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, elevated ozone levels could make air unhealthy for sensitive groups, especially during the late morning through early evening hours. The agency urges residents to reduce emissions by carpooling, avoiding idling on I-35E or I-30, and postponing outdoor burning or mowing until after sunset. Cooler mornings may trap pollutants near the surface, leading to hazy conditions across the Metroplex.

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth reports continued warm, breezy weather Thursday and Friday, with highs near 88–89°F. Winds from the south will increase humidity ahead of Saturday’s system, which could bring showers and isolated thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening. Gusts may reach 25 mph at times, though rainfall totals should remain light overall.

By Sunday, skies clear and highs return to the low 80s — perfect for fall festivals, football tailgates, and pumpkin patch visits. Early next week looks seasonably warm and mostly sunny, giving North Texans a pleasant stretch after the brief weekend disturbance.

Residents should stay alert for changing air and storm conditions through Saturday. Sensitive individuals are advised to limit outdoor exposure Thursday, especially near heavy traffic corridors.
