Shreveport, Louisiana – High temperatures climbing into the mid-90s and a renewed chance for storms are on tap today across East Texas, with a narrow corridor from Longview to Lufkin facing the highest risk for scattered showers and isolated lightning strikes through this evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, an upper-level disturbance moving southeast across the Middle Red River Valley is triggering spotty thunderstorm development—especially along the I-20 corridor and east of Tyler. Rain chances range from 10% in northern counties near Texarkana to around 30% in Deep East Texas, including Nacogdoches and San Augustine.

While severe weather isn’t expected, brief downpours and gusty winds could affect outdoor plans or afternoon travel. Temperatures are trending slightly higher than the weekend, with highs reaching 93°F in Nacogdoches, 94°F in Center, and 91°F in Tyler.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated and use caution during peak heat hours. Storm chances are expected to decrease overnight, but additional updates are possible if conditions change rapidly.
