Indianapolis, Indiana – Mild weather will peak across Indiana today before temperatures trend back toward seasonal levels through midweek, with patchy fog and limited precipitation chances expected.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, high temperatures today will range from the mid-40s across northeastern Indiana to the upper 50s in southwestern portions of the state, marking the warmest day in nearly three weeks for some locations. Areas along Interstate 65, Interstate 70, and Interstate 69 will experience noticeably mild conditions for mid-February.

Patchy fog is expected at times today and again during the overnight and early morning hours through midweek. While widespread dense fog is not anticipated, localized visibility reductions may occur, particularly in low-lying and rural areas. Drivers are advised to use caution during the morning commute, especially near river valleys and open farmland.

Temperatures will cool back to near seasonal averages Wednesday and Thursday, with highs generally settling into the upper 30s to mid-40s. Overnight lows during this period are expected to fall into the 30s, limiting the risk for winter precipitation. Conditions are forecast to remain mainly dry through Saturday, with only minimal cloud cover at times.

Forecast models indicate that temperatures will begin to moderate again late this week into the weekend. Highs are expected to rebound into the upper 40s to near 50 degrees by Saturday, with continued dry conditions across much of the state.

Looking ahead, rain chances are expected to return late Saturday into early next week, though details on timing and coverage remain uncertain. The Climate Prediction Center outlook suggests milder-than-average temperatures will likely persist into next week across Indiana.

Roadways including I-65, I-70, I-74, and I-69 are expected to remain mostly unaffected by weather hazards through the week, aside from brief fog-related visibility issues.

Residents are encouraged to stay aware of changing conditions during early morning hours but can expect generally favorable weather for travel and outdoor activities this week.
