Terre Haute, Indiana – Drivers in Vermillion County will face detours for several more weeks as the westbound entrance ramp to I-74 from State Road 63 remains closed for ongoing construction.
According to the Indiana Department of Transportation: West Central, the ramp closure has been in place and is expected to continue through late September, depending on weather conditions. The closure is part of a larger infrastructure project aimed at improving safety and traffic flow in the area.
Motorists traveling west on I-74 will need to seek alternate routes, as the impacted ramp near Spring Creek and CR 200 E is completely inaccessible. Local traffic may see increased congestion on surrounding county roads, especially during morning and evening commutes.
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, follow posted detour signs, and allow extra time for travel in and around Vermillion County. Emergency services and school transportation routes may also be adjusted in the coming weeks.
More updates will be released by INDOT as the project progresses. Weather delays could extend the closure past September if conditions worsen.
