Nashville, TN – A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for parts of Middle Tennessee, with snow expected across the Cumberland Plateau from Wednesday evening through early Thursday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, snowfall will begin around 6 p.m. Wednesday and continue until 6 a.m. CST Thursday. Most areas will see around one inch of accumulation, but higher elevations could receive up to three inches.
The advisory covers Pickett, Putnam, Overton, Fentress, White, Cumberland, Warren, Grundy, and Van Buren counties, including cities such as Cookeville, Crossville, Sparta, and McMinnville. Residents should prepare for slippery road conditions, particularly on bridges, overpasses, and untreated surfaces.
Officials urge drivers to slow down and exercise caution while traveling. Road conditions may deteriorate overnight, and commuters on Thursday morning should allow extra time for travel. The latest road conditions can be checked by dialing 511.
Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing overnight, which could prolong icy conditions into the morning hours. Authorities advise keeping emergency supplies in vehicles, including blankets, flashlights, and food, in case of delays.
