Memphis, TN – High winds and scattered thunderstorms are expected to impact the Memphis area today, potentially creating hazardous conditions. Gusts of up to 40 mph will intensify along key routes such as I-40 and I-55, prompting safety precautions for commuters.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, winds will pick up through the afternoon and continue into tonight ahead of a cold front. Wind gusts are expected to reach 30-40 mph in the city and surrounding areas, with the strongest conditions occurring during the evening hours. Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor items and drive with caution, particularly along bridges and overpasses.

Showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to begin tonight and persist until early Tuesday morning. Rainfall totals are forecasted between a quarter and half an inch, with localized heavier downpours possible. Temperatures will reach a high of 74°F today before dropping to the low 60s overnight.

Looking ahead, Tuesday morning brings a slight chance of lingering rain, but skies will clear as temperatures reach a high of 71°F. Cooler weather will follow midweek, with highs in the upper 50s on Wednesday and Thursday, accompanied by sunny skies. Overnight lows will dip to around 40°F midweek, with breezy conditions continuing.
