NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Thunderstorms are expected to bring heavy rain and gusty conditions across Nashville Saturday, creating travel delays before clear skies return Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service, showers and storms will move through Middle Tennessee late Friday into Saturday, with the highest risk for strong storms and heavy downpours between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday. Rainfall totals could reach a half-inch in spots, while north winds around 5 mph will keep temperatures cooler, topping out near 74 degrees.
Drivers along I-40, I-65, and I-24 should prepare for reduced visibility and slick roads during the afternoon hours. Outdoor events in Davidson and surrounding counties may be disrupted, with lightning and brief downpours possible.
Conditions improve quickly by Saturday night, with skies clearing and lows dipping to the low 50s. Sunshine dominates Sunday and Monday, with highs climbing into the low 80s. By Tuesday, Nashville will heat up again, with afternoon highs near 88 under mostly sunny skies.
The storm threat ends Saturday evening, and no additional watches or warnings are currently in effect.
