NASHVILLE, Tennessee – Rain taps lightly on rooftops this early Sunday as a cold front slides across Middle Tennessee, bringing gusty winds and slick roads. By midday, showers thin out, clouds break, and cooler, drier air will sweep in from the northwest — marking the region’s first extended stretch of true fall weather this October.

According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, showers and a few embedded thunderstorms are likely through late morning. Gusts may reach 25 mph before easing later today. The quick-hitting system could leave behind wet pavement on I-40, I-65, and secondary routes, so drivers should slow down during early travel. Behind the front, cooler air rushes in, dropping highs from the mid-60s today into the lower 40s by early Monday.

From Monday through Wednesday, sunshine dominates. Highs will climb comfortably into the low 70s each afternoon, with crisp, calm mornings — ideal for outdoor work, pumpkin patches, or early Halloween decorating. Winds turn light and variable, and humidity will stay low through midweek.

By late week, a subtle warming trend develops, with highs near 80°F by Friday. Models hint at scattered showers returning next weekend, but no severe weather or cold snap appears imminent. After today’s soggy start, much of Middle Tennessee looks set for a golden stretch of calm, classic fall days.
