Memphis, TN – September 2025 wrapped up warmer and drier than usual across the Mid-South, according to the National Weather Service in Memphis. The monthly review showed above-normal temperatures and below-average precipitation at multiple regional airports.

According to NWS Memphis, Memphis International Airport recorded a mean temperature of 78.1 degrees, nearly four degrees above the climate normal. The city saw a monthly high of 96 degrees and a low of 56 degrees. Rainfall measured just 2.34 inches, compared with the normal 3.03 inches.

In Jackson, TN, September 2025 ranked as the eighth warmest since records began in 1948. The city posted a mean temperature of 75.6 degrees, with a high of 98 degrees and a low of 49 degrees. Rainfall reached only 2.03 inches, well below the normal 3.58 inches.

Tupelo, MS, also saw warmer-than-normal conditions, averaging 76.2 degrees with a high of 94 degrees. Rainfall totaled 2.48 inches, compared with the normal 3.57 inches.

Jonesboro, AR, followed a similar trend, recording a monthly mean of 77.3 degrees and 3.20 inches of rainfall, just shy of its 3.30-inch average.

Meteorologists noted that while none of the sites set new records, the region’s consistent heat and reduced rainfall may signal ongoing dryness heading into October. The combination could impact agriculture and increase fire risk if conditions continue.

Residents are encouraged to monitor forecasts as the Mid-South transitions into fall, with the potential for shifting weather patterns in the weeks ahead.
