Tennessee Weather Recap: Memphis Hits 95°F as June Ends Hotter and Wetter Than Average

Memphis, Tenn. – June 2025 brought an early taste of summer heat and heavy rainfall across the Mid-South, with Memphis topping out at 95°F and Tupelo logging its 5th wettest June on record with over 10 inches of rain.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, the city saw a monthly mean temperature of 80.5°F—above average for June—with a low of 61°F and highs peaking in the mid-90s. Memphis International Airport recorded 4.63 inches of rainfall, slightly above the monthly norm of 3.99 inches.

In Jackson, Tenn., McKellar-Sipes Airport reported a monthly mean of 78.8°F with 5.89 inches of rain—well above the 4.76-inch average. Meanwhile, Jonesboro, Ark., despite a high of 95°F, tied for the second-coldest June on record due to cooler nights, averaging just 71.6°F overall. Rainfall there reached 3.74 inches, still ahead of the monthly normal of 3.05 inches.

Tupelo, Miss., experienced the biggest rainfall surge. With 10.04 inches collected, it far exceeded its normal 5.01 inches, marking its wettest June since 2021.

Residents should prepare for a continued active weather pattern into July, with pop-up storms and above-normal humidity likely.
