Nashville, Tennessee – Tennessee is expected to see a generally calm stretch of winter weather next week, with limited chances for snow or rain and no strong signal for widespread travel disruptions from Monday through Friday.
According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, much of Tennessee falls within a below-normal precipitation zone during the January 12–16 period. Temperatures are forecast to trend above seasonal averages at times, reducing the likelihood of winter precipitation and supporting extended dry conditions across the region.
Middle Tennessee, including Nashville, Murfreesboro, and Franklin, may see several consecutive dry days with only isolated, low-impact rain chances. West Tennessee, including Memphis and Jackson, is also expected to remain mostly dry. In East Tennessee, including Knoxville and the Tri-Cities, a few brief flurries or light rain-snow mixes cannot be ruled out near the higher terrain, though accumulations appear minimal. Major corridors such as I-40, I-24, I-65, I-75, and I-81 are not expected to face prolonged weather-related issues.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation typically reminds drivers that overnight temperature drops can still create isolated slick spots on bridges and shaded roadways, especially in valleys and near waterways. Early morning commuters should remain alert.
The quieter pattern looks likely to persist through much of the workweek, though minor disturbances remain possible. Overall, widespread winter weather impacts across Tennessee appear unlikely through Friday.
