Nashville, TN – Tennessee is bracing for its coldest temperatures of the season as a surge of Arctic air sweeps through the state early next week. According to the NOAA Weather Prediction Center, a powerful cold front will move through Monday, November 10, sending temperatures plummeting overnight into the 20s and low-30s by Tuesday morning, November 11.

Forecast lows are expected to reach 24°F in Nashville, 22°F in Knoxville, 25°F in Memphis, and 18°F across the higher elevations near Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains. Even the southern tier from Chattanooga to Pulaski will dip into the upper-20s with widespread frost.

The National Weather Service offices in Memphis, Nashville, and Morristown have issued freeze warnings for nearly the entire state. Northwest winds gusting 20–30 mph will drive wind chills into the teens and single digits across higher terrain, forecasters said.

According to the Weather Prediction Center’s Day 3–7 Hazards Outlook, Tennessee sits squarely within the nation’s broad “Frost/Freeze” corridor — part of an Arctic outbreak stretching from the Gulf Coast to the Great Lakes. Meteorologists say this is one of the most widespread early-November cold waves in years.

Tuesday will bring a sunny but frigid day, with highs only in the 30s and low-40s — 20 degrees below average. Clear skies Tuesday night could lead to another freeze before temperatures moderate later in the week.

Residents are urged to wrap outdoor pipes, cover plants, and provide shelter for pets. Commuters should be alert for icy patches on bridges and shaded roads Tuesday morning.
