MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Morning fog curls low over the Mississippi River, glowing orange under the rising sun. The air feels still, mild, and slightly damp — a calm start ahead of a warm stretch that’s more like early fall than mid-November. But change is already stirring to the west, and by early next week, rain could return to the Mid-South.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, Friday will be mostly sunny and warm, with highs climbing near 76°F. Winds from the south will stay gentle but will begin pulling in moisture ahead of the next system. The pattern remains quiet through the weekend, offering ideal weather for travel, outdoor projects, or pre-holiday decorating. Saturday’s high near 77°F marks the warmest day of the stretch, while Sunday brings more sunshine and slightly cooler readings in the low 70s.

The calm pattern starts to shift by Monday. A developing front from the Plains moves eastward, bringing a 20–50% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoon and evening. While widespread severe weather isn’t expected, some brief heavy rain and gusty winds are possible along I-40 and surrounding routes.

After the front passes, Memphis may see cooler and drier air midweek, with highs returning to the mid-60s by Wednesday. For now, the Mid-South enjoys one more stretch of late-fall warmth before a more unsettled Thanksgiving pattern begins to take shape.
