NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A stretch of warm, sunny fall weather will dominate through Friday before storms roll into Middle Tennessee this weekend. Afternoon highs near the mid-80s will make Friday feel more like late summer, but the pattern shifts quickly as a front pushes through late Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, a 20 to 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms develops Saturday afternoon, especially along and south of I-40. Gusty winds up to 25 mph could accompany stronger storms, making travel tricky and outdoor events vulnerable to sudden downpours. Residents are urged to secure tents and decorations at pumpkin patches and fall festivals ahead of Saturday evening.

Friday remains partly sunny with calm conditions and highs near 83°F. Saturday begins warm and breezy before storms arrive late in the day, bringing localized heavy rain and cooler air overnight. By Sunday, highs drop into the low 70s with clearing skies, offering crisp, comfortable conditions for park walks, football tailgates, and leaf-viewing drives through the Cumberland Plateau.

Forecasters say this weekend’s rain will mark the start of a subtle pattern change. Temperatures early next week should hover in the mid-70s by day and mid-40s at night — a sign that true fall air is finally on its way.

Residents should monitor NWS alerts through Saturday and plan outdoor activities early in the day to avoid possible storm delays.
